So far, the best feature of iOS 5 is the text definition feature. This way, at least one time in ten I should be able to catch myself saying “exited” when I really mean “excited”. Maybe.

Saw this nasty little customer trundling up the front path as I was loading up my last truckload of stuff to move to the new house. I’ve never seen an insect this large in Saskatchewan before, the largest up until now being those gigantic water beetles you sometimes come across. This guy was about the length of my index finger, and about as wide as my index and middle fingers side by side....

Schooling update: What about the other 2%?
I got the mark back for my mid-term exam in my English class, and although circumstances going into the exam were not ideal (work drama), I felt pretty good after writing the exam. Turns out, I was right to feel good about it- I got 100%! I’m pretty stoked about this, although it was pretty funny how quickly 100% wasn’t quite good enough when I realized that there was a bonus question...
Things You Really Don’t Need To Photograph →
Certainly guilty of one or two of these from time to time, but I can’t help but agree with all of them, hehe

ego boostin'
I just got back my first writing assignment from the class I’m currently taking at SIAST, and I was quite pleased with the result. We were tasked to finish a short story that ended fairly ambiguously, to the tune of about one page- no biggie. Being the blowhard that I am, I ended up extending mine to three pages, mostly because I felt I was on a roll.
Essentially, the end of the original...

Too much?
For my first writing assignment for my English class, we were tasked with writing an ending for a short story that ended rather abruptly, without resolution. I decided it would be best to do what the author didn’t, and end the story completely unambiguously. In my ending, the main character ends up in the forests of peru, being hauled up and placed a stone altar, and being sacrificed under a...

Lake Gang 2010
Just got back from the Emma Lake for the second annual Clubhouse cabin trip. The weather was great- not too hot, and not too cool. We had a smaller group than last year, but I think I prefer the more laid-back feeling that promoted.
I had tons of fun this weekend, at least as much as last year, and without the downsides of Lake Gang ‘09 (leeches, hangovers, and my ridiculous toohaches)....

elation&disappointment
I feel like a fool for getting my hopes up.
Anyone who knows me at least reasonably well knows that I am very much a dog person. Ever since I moved out of my Mom’s house and away from our dog Chewbacca when I was seventeen, I’ve been waiting patiently to have my own pup to share my space and my life with. Waiting patiently until I could be sure I had a stable enough job, with...

Austin City Limits
Sooo… I might be going to Austin, Texas in October? That’s kind of exiting, but the really surprising part is that it may actually be financially feasible.
Jenelle and I are hoping to head down for Austin City Limits music festival, with bands like The Eagles, Muse, The Strokes, Flaming Lips, Spoon, vampire
Weekend, Sonic Youth, The Black Keys, Pete Yorn, and loads more.
This will...

the vegetarian paradox
The other day, Angee and I went for a wander/drive out past the power station & garbage dump and stumbled upon a gigantic greenhouse that I wasn’t aware existed. After making our way though the bedding plants and the vegetables, we came upon a creepy little plant called a “sensitive plant”, which in much the same way as a venus fly trap closes it’s leaves upon contact....
